Throughout summer 2022, The Joy Labs partnered with Prairie Island Campground, the Winona County Historical Society , City of Winona Natural Resources & Sustainability, We Are Water MN, and the Minnesota Humanities Center to engage community in talking about the importance of protecting water and in co-creating murals for Prairie Island Campground. In the end 100s of community members shared their beliefs, memories, and stories about water with paintbrushes in their hands, resulting in the We Are Water murals installed permanently. See the Winona County Historical Society’s Fabric of Winona page for more information about this project and the We Are Water MN page for more information about the larger statewide effort. Thanks to roadside senyru for allowing us to use their beautiful work as inspiration.
